Sooner Rain

Diana and I signing in the rain! Video below.

$65 tickets? Nope, just $10 each. :)

Selfie with the Sooner Schooner
Our 40 yard line seats gave us a great view of the Sooner band. Many fans didn't show due to the wet weather.
Rain gear... We watched the weather forecast ;)

Earlier this football season my girlfriend Diana (an OU graduate) came up with the perfect idea for a date: let’s go watch the Sooners beat up the Jayhawks!

At a glance, it certainly looked like a fun day:

- pre-game tailgate brunch on campus at the Sooner Tailgate.

- arrive at the stadium early to watch the OU band march and play “Boomer Sooner” .

- great seats!!! Press box side on the 40 yard line!

But the weather… the forecast chased away many:  solid rain!

The forecast for the Kansas vs Oklahoma game looked dreary for many fans.

Thousands of people stayed home due to the soggy Saturday, and some sold their tickets for cheap-- this worked out well for Diana and me! She found great seats for $10 each.

Diana and I dressed accordingly: we wore ponchos, rain pants and waterproof shoes. We were prepared! About 2 inches of rain fell during the game. We snuggled to keep warm with temperatures in the 50s.

The Sooners won the game as expected, 44-7 over Kansas. The paid attendance was listed at 84,908-- we think about half that number actually showed up, with likely less than 20,000 fans watching by the 4th quarter! That's when we watched history as OU freshman running back Samaje Perine eclipsed the 400 yard mark on the ground.

To borrow the Mastercard ad:

40 yard line seats: $10 each
Fancy pre-game dinner/tailgate: $5 each.(Diana found a great deal here too!)
Parking on campus: no charge
Signing in the rain… priceless... no cheap date here. :)
